     ANNOUNCEMENTS

After reviewing the comments on our latest poll it's pretty clear that the 'Gaeilge Malone' format for the K.O. Shield was a tremendous success.  Everyone apart from Simon has reported back in favour of continuing next season with the same set up.  If Simon wants to propose a way of setting up groups differently I would be interested to hear.  With 36 teams options are limited to 3x12, 12x3, 9x4, 4x9 or 6x6, which we use for the J.B. Cup.  I appreciate that it's good to keep interest in the competition for longer for more teams, and the new format does this, but remember, you have to separate the wheat from the chaff at somepoint in the competition.  A vehicle for tanking matches to training youth it is not.

The population also agrees with my own view that a 6th match should be added to the group schedule.  With this extra match it will help separate the standing a little more entering into the shield/plate section.  I also think that the extra 80-95k gate money will not harm the economy too much although I'm still calculating its potential effect.
